Originally from Anniston, Alabama, Sharon moved to Birmingham in 1996 to pursue a career in the computer industry. . She has been drawing and painting since childhood, but was discouraged from pursuing art education in favor of a more 'stable' career. Assuming herself to be talent free, she focused her creative energy into planning her home remodel.
When she became pregnant with her son, she found herself with a paintbrush in hand, relentlessly rendering a rainforest mural in the nursery. Her friends and family viewed the mural with shock, each exclaiming I didn't know you could do that! Later, a gift of acrylics and canvases from her husband led her to her first painting on canvas.
Working simultaneously as a computer programmer and stay-at-home mom, she paints late into the night, using her everyday life and travels as inspiration. Her contemporary style incorporates a sense of humor with bold colors, interesting textures, and lively subject matter.
